Beyonce Knowles Up For Mobo Trio
Beyonce Knowles has been nominated for three MOBOs.
The 'Beautiful Nightmare' singer is up for Best Video for 'Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)', Best International Act and Best Album for 'I Am... Sasha Fierce' at the annual British awards ceremony, which recognises music of black origin.
She will compete against her husband Jay-Z in the Best International Act category as well as Akon, Ciara, Drake, Eminem, Kanye West, Lady GaGa, Mariah Carey and Keri Hilson.
However, Beyonce did not receive the most nominations at yesterday's launch (26.08.09) which took place at London's Mayfair Hotel.
British rapper Chipmunk and hip-hop trio N-Dubz both received four nods each.
The 18-year-old star has been named in the Best UK Act and Best Hip-Hop Act groups, while his track 'Diamond Rings' is up for Best Song and Best Video.
N-Dubz - Dino 'Dappy' Contostavlos, his cousin Tula 'Tulisa' Contostavlos and Richard 'Fazer' Rawson - are also in the running for Best UK Act, have two tracks competing for the Best Song prize - 'Number One', their collaboration with Tinchy Stryder, and 'Strong Again' - while their LP 'Uncle B' will challenge for Best Album.
Last year's 'X Factor' winner Alexandra Burke has been put forward for the Best Newcomer accolade, which she will contest JLS - who finished as runners-up to her on the UK TV talent show, and who are also up for Best Song for recent hit single 'Beat Again - for, as well as Jade Ewen, Laura Izibor and Master Shortie.
The 14th annual Mobo Awards will take place at the Scottish Exhibition + Conference Centre (SECC) Arena in Glasgow on September 30 - the first time the ceremony has been held outside of London.
Kanya King - CEO and Founder of the MOBOs - said: "The fact that we are holding the awards in Glasgow this year is testament to the fact that MOBO music is the sound of Britain as a whole. The reception from Scotland has been great and we cannot wait to put on our show up there."
