A source backstage said, "Kim and Beyonce barely spoke to each other.They were on opposite sides of the stage. Of course, the situation was made extra awkward given Kanye and Jay Z are best pals and were together for the most part of the festival. The women eventually "made small talk in the dressing room", with the source adding, "You could tell Kim was uncomfortable. She clung onto Kanye the entire time and didn't say much".

It turned out to be a momentous occasion for Jay Z and Kanye, who technically shared stage time with the President of the United States Barack Obama. The President filmed a video message for the audience at the festival, proclaiming his love for the duo's music and urging fans to get out and vote at the forthcoming election.
