Bettany's Gym Struggle For Legion Role

The Da Vinci Code star was forced to bulk up for the thriller, which sees him play a fallen angel leading an army of human fighters.

But Bettany admits he struggled to get in shape.

He tells Britain's Total Film magazine, "Are the abs on my poster real? Yes! My job for six months was to go into a gym for two hours a day and then get paid a nice sum of money at the end of it.

"I'm not a gym person but I have a strong work ethic. I promise you the moment it was over that my abs didn't look like that anymore. I've been steadily abusing my body with cheese and booze ever since."
