Benedict Cumberbatch Slates "Awful" 'Downton Abbey'
However, Cumberbatch isn't too impressed. Talking to Reader's Digest, he was plugging his own period drama that he's set to star in, 'Parade's End', and couldn't help but end up comparing it to 'Downton Abbey', according to The Independent. The actor argued that his show wouldn't end up indulging in the sort of sentimentality that their more famous rival had. He said "Although Downton traded a lot on the sentiment in the last series... but we won't talk about that series because it was, in my opinion, f***ing atrocious." Meow.
This year is expected to be the last that Cumberbatch will remain mainly known for his TV roles; he has two massive performances coming out next year, 'The Hobbit' and an as yet untitled sequel to the last 'Star Trek' film.
