Ben Whishaw - Ben Whishaw To Play Younger, Cooler 'Q' In James Bond
Ben Whishaw, the young British actor best known for playing John Keats in 'Bright Star', will play gadget guru 'Q' in the forthcoming James Bond movie 'Skyfall'. Whishaw replaces John Cleese and is the youngest star to take on the role. It also marks the first time that Bond's trusty colleague is younger than the man himself.
Announcing the news, producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said, "It's a real thrill to confirm the return of Q, played by the enormously talented Ben Whishaw. We are delighted to have this beloved character back in the series". 'Skyfall' is the latest movie in the 007 franchise, and is directed by Hollywood filmmaker Sam Mendes. It's also Daniel Craig's third outing as Britain's most famous spy, despite some recent speculation concerning his future in the role. The movie sees Dame Judi Dench's character M finding her past coming back to haunt her, with the Mi6 headquarters coming under attack.
Craig recently revealed that the movie has a "great script", and the trailer for the film certainly suggests it will be different from previous movies. Skyfall is set for release in October 2012. Whishaw previously starred alongside Daniel Craig in the British crime-drama flick 'Layercake'.
