Ben Affleck - Ben Affleck's Cold Character Drove Olga Kurylenko Crazy

The Ukrainian beauty was surprised to discover the usually warm and friendly Affleck was as disengaged off screen as he was in front of the cameras and it made for a horrible experience for Kurylenko.

She tells Blackbook magazine, "It was awful. He had to be Neil, this cold person, and I assume he was instructed to stay in character on the set. I don't know, but I assume because I just realised that's what he did to all of us (the whole cast and crew)."

Kurylenko admits Affleck's emotional detachment was a form of psychological torture - but it proved to be useful for her character Marina as she channelled her frustration into her performance, even though it didn't make the final cut.

She says, "I went nuts. There are moments that, as Marina, I went completely crazy, but Terry didn't put that in the movie. Apparently it was too terrifying. People saw it and they freaked out, so it was cut. He drove me to that state though."

However, the actress was able to form a bond with Malick and she treasures the experience of working with the critically-acclaimed director: "I miss Terry. It's so amazing to be a part of his work. I think we had a connection, and his writing is so simple and beautiful... It's because of experiences like working with Terry that I feel like my life has been worth living and that my life makes sense."
