The bassist of Polish rock band BEHEMOTH is calling on fans to register as bone marrow donors to help singer/guitarist ADAM 'NERGAL' DARSKI find a match in his battle with cancer.
The band abruptly cancelled its European and American tours after Darski was hospitalised at Poland's Gdansk Medical University Hospital last month (Aug10) with a mystery illness.
Darski subsequently revealed doctors had diagnosed him with a life-threatening form of leukaemia.
And Behemoth bassist Orion, real name Tomasz Wroblewski, is urging fans to aid in the search for a life-saving bone-marrow transplant.
He tells Focusonmetal.net: "(Nergal) remains in the hospital. He's going through chemotherapy now. And they're planning a bone-marrow transplant, possibly this year (10).
"To register in a bone-marrow bank, it's just a sample of blood, so that's the least that anybody can do. So if there is any chance for anybody to just go and do it, then go ahead, and that's a huge help. Even if it doesn't help Nergal directly, it helps some other person, most likely. So that's what people can do in order to (show their) support."
But despite the serious health scare, Orion insists his bandmate remains optimistic: "He's doing fine. His attitude is just winning everything. He's with fighting the illness and we're all sure that he's gonna be fine."
