Bedingfield Found America 'Hard Work'
The British singer was forced to "slum it" when she first toured the country in 2004, and recalls having to play small garden parties without a microphone to promote her single These Words.
She says, "The limit was the Bedingfield Barbeque, where I went to sing to a competition winner, privately, in their own back yard. You're singing to a crowd of 20, and they're eating pizza and you don't know if they are there for the pizza or for you.
"It makes you think why people like Robbie Williams and Oasis weren't prepared to do that."
