Beckham's Childhood Home Onsale For $1.29 Million

DAVID BECKHAM's childhood home is on the market for a whopping $1.29 million (GBP850,000) - almost four times the value of similar properties in the area.
The soccer ace grew up in a tiny terrace house in Leytonstone, east London before he reached superstar status and could afford to splash out on a single pad.
Beckham lived at the address with mum Sandra and dad Ted, before leaving aged 14 after he was signed up for the youth training scheme with soccer supergroup Manchester United.
The three bedroomed house is worth about $380,000 (GBP250,000) - but its connection to the star has seen its value soar.
The property is being advertised as "Lucky leafy Leytonstone, celebrity hotspot - London's answer to Hollywood."

Fortunately, the trio were the only guests at the awards ceremony to be slimed, everyone else fared considerably better.

Wimbledon 2014: Samuel L Jackson, Hugh Jackman & Keira Knightley Watch Epic Men's Final [Pictures] 4275521 News

Celebrities flocked to South London over the past fortnight to see the stars of the tennis court compete at Wimbledon. Stars from around the world attended with Chris Hemsworth and Hugh Jackman representing Australia, Samuel L Jackson and Bradley Cooper from the US and, of course, an assortment of famous British faces. Nowhere were more celebrity faces present than at the Men's final on Sunday (6th July).

The Men's final on Sunday (6th July) always draws huge crowds and celebrity doubles cropped up throughout Centre Court including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince and Kate Middleton. The couple sat in the Royal box and watched as Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic battled it out for the championship. Yet throughout the crowd other couples watched including Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky, David and Victoria Beckham and Keira Knightley and James Righton.

Bradley CooperBradley Cooper also watched the match.

The match was an incredible one and will surely go down in history as one of the best, albeit unsuccessful comebacks, in tennis. Djokovic was merely two points away winning the championship during the third set when Federer battled his way back. Unfortunately for the much beloved Swiss player it wasn't meant to be, and Djokovic took home the trophy.

Chris Hemsworth and Elsa PatakyChris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky looked adorable as they watched the match together.

The crowd's reaction was certainly appalling and it was as if Djokovic was playing against the crowd as much as against Federer. The crowd were overwhelmingly in support of Federer and vocally demonstrated their bias. But, the celebrities in the crowd were considerably more polite and kept their preference well hidden.

Actor Samuel L Jackson attended the match alongside his close friend and publicist, Sofia Davis. 65-year-old Jackson has been spending a great deal of time in the UK promoting awareness for Davis' charity, One For The Boys, which aims to promote awareness for men's cancers and encourage men to discuss their health issues. He recently appeared on The Graham Norton Show alongside actress Keira Knightley, who was also at the Wimbledon final alongside her husband, Klaxon's band member James Righton.

Another acting couple, and Hemsworth's fellow Australians, Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee were also present at the sporting event. Jackman looked unrecognisable with his head shaved, sporting a distinctive black moustache and goatee.

Did David Beckham Just Hint At Playing Football Again? He Did! 4227579 News

David Beckham is 39 years of age; he’s played professional football for 20 years in England, Spain, France, Italy and America. He can purchase a Major League Soccer expansion team for £25m and he is aiming for a Miami-based team to be playing in 2016 or 2017. But he might not be done lacing up boots himself.

Appearing on a BBC One documentary, Beckham hinted that he might yet play professionally again. "There's never been a player-owner but maybe?” he said. The documentary sees the former England player travel 800 miles by motorbike, canoe and plane into the Amazon rainforest on a mammoth 12-day trip.

Beckham, who is making his first foray into television since retiring, admitted he had "a tough time" after retiring as a player but has enjoyed "a stage of enjoying the rest" and is tempted to come out of retirement.

“Now I go to watch a basketball game and, when you are watching athletes play at the top of their game, it gives me that itch again and I want to be back in the game and I start thinking to myself 'Could I play again? Could I go back? Could I come out of retirement and start playing again?’”

Beckham’s footballing career was kicked into the limelight with his famous goal against Wimbledon in 1996. Icon status soon followed at Manchester United where he would become a talisman for the club. Successful stints both off and on the pitch at Real Madrid, L.A Galaxy, A.C Milan and Paris Saint Germain would follow while Beckham built himself into as much of a brand as he was an athlete.

Brooklyn Beckham Has A Weekend Job at a Coffee Shop, To Learn the Value of Money 4205069 News

Brooklyn Beckham has started work as a barista in London to learn the value of money, something his parents have running through the taps into big money hot tubs in their various mansions across the globe*.

The Beckhams’ eldest son, Brooklyn, is reportedly on £2.68-per-hour and is subject to the strict working laws for under 16s in the U.K. This is all in aid of Brooklyn’s development as a young man; teaching him the true value of money so he doesn’t turn into another celebrity wild child, born into a life of luxury and decadence.

“Brooklyn has got the world at his fingertips and could have a life of luxury if he wanted. But the lad is not that way inclined,” an anonymous source said, according to ITV. “Brooklyn and his three siblings (Romeo, 11, Cruz, nine, and Harper, two) have all had a great start in life - much better than most. But David and Victoria want them to know what hard work is like.”

More: David Beckham wasn't even the best at football in his school

Last year, David Beckham explained that he and his wife Victoria wanted to do right by their kids. "We try to lead by example, by showing them it's important to work hard. That's one of the key things me and my wife have always done, [both] before we had children, and now [that] we have four children,” he said.

"I've done that throughout my footballing career and I'll continue to do it outside. We juggle everything around the family because our main priority is the children, simple as that, and it always will be, but being hard-working is the best thing you can show children."

David Beckham Launching Whiskey, Alcohol Awareness Group Voices Concerns 4146907 News

Given David Beckham’s twin statures as one of the finest football players of his generation and global fashion icon, it’s no surprise that an alcohol awareness charity are condemning him for playing a “fundamental” role in developing Haig Club Single Grain Scotch Whisky alongside Diageo.

David BeckhamDavid Beckham is going into the whiskey business

Diageo, the British-based drinks company behind Smirnoff, Johnny Walker and Baileys brands announced yesterday that they were partnering up with Beckham, the ex Paris St Germain, Real Madrid and Manchester United player, to launch a Scotch that "showcases butterscotch and toffee."

"I'm proud to be working at the heart of a homegrown brand which has built an incredible heritage over 400 years," Beckham explained. But the move hasn’t gone unnoticed by the alcohol awareness charity Alcohol Conern, who said it was “incredibly disappointing that David Beckham, a global icon who has wide appeal to children has chosen to use his sports star image to promote spirits.”

More: Is Brooklyn Beckham Fulfilling His Destiny?

Emily Robinson, deputy chief executive of Alcohol Concern added: “Given David Beckham’s other roles promoting sport and a healthy lifestyle to children, we believe this will send a confusing message to them about the dangers of alcohol and its impact on a healthy lifestyle and we call on the star to rethink his association with this product.”

Apart from the obvious advantages associating with a major brand like Beckham, Diageo hope to increase the appeal of whiskey to the younger generation, given its reputation as an ‘old man’s’ drink. That, though, is precisely the kind of thing Alcohol Concern are – for want of a better word – concerned about, as Beckham’s reputation and healthy living stance run contrary to the values denoted by the manufacture, sale and consumption of alcohol.

In response to the charity’s concerns, Diageo said in a statement: “We and David Beckham take our responsibility in this area very seriously. David will lead the promotion of the responsible drinking programme. We have always been completely clear in our view that alcohol should only be consumed by adults and we do not want underage drinkers as consumers.”

Francis Ingham, director general of the Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA) said: “The news of Diageo’s new whisky brand with David Beckham was handled smartly and anticipated potential criticism.

“They included the announcement of a dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility programme around responsible drinking, which would also be fronted by Beckham. Diageo – which subscribes to the PRCA’s code of conduct – has invested hugely in responsible drinking initiatives, as it rightly realises that alcohol misuse is damaging to its own reputation.”

Is Brooklyn Beckham Fulfilling His Destiny? 4144518 News

It’s been no secret (or surprise) that 15 year old Brooklyn Beckham, the eldest of the Beckham children, has made his modeling debut. Appearing on the cover of Man About Town Magazine, in one shot the teenager rests his head on hands raised behind his head, in the foreground of Star Wars and Eminem posters. With hair styled similarly to his footballer and model father, David Beckham’s, Brooklyn is clearly the product of his famous parents.

Beckham Family NYFW Brooklyn, center back, and his brothers Cruz and Romeo, and parents David and Victoria

In one image, which sees Brooklyn wearing a yellow and black striped tank top, he frowns at the camera, his mouth positioned into a pout worthy of his fashion designer mother. Shot by Alisdair McLellan, Brooklyn’s debut has been a huge success with fans of the Beckham clan who look forward to the teenager pursuing a long career in modeling.

Born in London in 1999, Brooklyn was David and Victoria’s first son. Named so because of the city he was conceived in, he was the ring bearer at his parent’s wedding the year he was born. His parents had begun a relationship two years prior to his birth, his father was playing under his famous number 7 jersey at Manchester United and his mother was part of the most popular girl group the world had ever seen, the Spice Girls.

The coupling of David and Victoria marked something totally unique in celebrity culture. With Victoria’s vast ambition, teamed with David’s likability and good looks, the pair were dubbed “Posh and Becks” and built an empire based on their relationship. From fashion design to perfumes, films named after them to appearing on the packets of Young’s Mariners Pies, the Beckhams saturated every business market that they possibly could.

So, it seems only fitting that, now their first born is almost of age, he too start pulling his weight in the Beckham empire. No one was surprised to hear that Brooklyn Beckham had taken up modeling, particularly since his father is renowned for his good looks and his mother is deeply involved in the fashion world. He is undoubtedly cool in the front of the cameras, his 20 page spread celebrating teenage fashion in Man About Town Magazine has been a roaring success, while Brooklyn allegedly had a “keen eye in the styling process, collaborating on selections from designers including Ralph Lauren, Saint Laurent and Supreme.” We should hope so with a mother like Victoria!

Do you think Brooklyn would have made it as a model without the help of his very famous parents?

It’s been no secret (or surprise) that 15 year old Brooklyn Beckham, the eldest of the Beckham children, has made his modeling debut. Appearing on the cover of Man About Town Magazine, in one shot the teenager rests his head on hands raised behind his head, in the foreground of Star Wars and Eminem posters. With hair styled similarly to his footballer and model father, David Beckham’s, Brooklyn is clearly the product of his famous parents.

Brooklyn Beckham Is Now A Model, But What Path Will The 15 Year Old Eventually Choose? 4134632 News

At just 15, Brooklyn Beckham has landed his very first magazine cover for ‘Man About Town’ as well as a 20 page editorial spread. The eldest son of Victoria and David Beckham has lived his life in the spotlight so far, thanks to his famous parents, but now he just might be on the path to becoming a star in his own right. The question is whose footsteps will he follow in?

Brooklyn Beckham and mother VictoriaBrooklyn Beckham strikes a pose with mother Victoria

When Brooklyn Beckham came into the world in 1999 things were a little different, his mother was still a Spice Girl and his father played for Manchester United. The pop star and footballer pairing proved a winning combination with the media and soon David and Victoria morphed into the Beckham’s, Britain’s most famous celebrity couple. In 2002, Brooklyn’s little brother Romeo was born, followed by Cruz three years later. Then in 2011 the three Beckham boys were joined by a little sister, Harper.

It was actually 11 year old Romeo who beat Brooklyn to becoming the first Beckham mini model when he starred in Burberry’s December 2012 campaign. Brooklyn’s cover star debut though might just put him one better than his brother as gets  pictured in a range of designer labels including Ralph Lauren, Saint Laurent and Supreme, throughout the 20 page spread. The article had been described as ‘a 20-page fashion story celebrating teenage style, which shows a warm and honest insight into the moment men begin to express themselves through clothes.’ Which sounds pretty fitting for young Brooklyn, who, with Posh and Becks as parents, was probably taught about designer clothes and how to wear them from a very young age. Photographing Brooklyn for his big moment is ‘friend of the family’ Alasdair McLellan, who shot Victoria for UK Vogue and David for the smugly titled, Fantastic Man magazine.

Despite the fashion interest, Brooklyn has been reported to be more likely to follow in his father’s footsteps than mother Victoria’s. Last October he was spotted training on the same ground where his father began his football career at Manchester United. However sources were quick to say Brooklyn was not trying out for the team. He has also reportedly had trials with London club, Chelsea, and is now training at Queens Park Rangers' football academy. All this whilst juggling being at school in London.

Footballer or model? Who knows what path Brooklyn will eventually chose, but with David and Victoria has parents he’s sure likely to be able to go down either path with ease. It’s certainly not surprising that he’s landed a magazine cover already, especially since little brother Romeo’s already done his first fashion campaign and the Beckham's are of course nearly British royalty. But for now fifteen year old Brooklyn is still very much a teenager and probably has some homework to get on with whilst he chooses between a footballing or modelling career. If only we were all so spoilt for choice as teens.

Brooklyn Beckham Makes Modelling Debut for 'Man About Town' Magazine 4134583 News

Brooklyn Beckham, the 15-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham, has made his modelling debut in high-end magazine Man About Town - a glossy biannual publication "targeted at high-end business-engaged and culturally-orientated male urbanities."

Brooklyn appears on the cover, accompanied by the word 'Quiche' - a reference to Chris Lilley's Australian sitcom Ja'Mie in which the word means "a step above hot," reports the Telegraph.

The 20-page fashion story inside celebrates the teenager's style and the photographs are shot by Alastair McLellan, a photographer who is mother has previously worked with. Brooklyn dons various designer garments from the likes of Ralph Lauren and Saint Laurent.

"We could not have wished for a stronger subject than Brooklyn to bring this story to life," said the publication's editor, Ben Reardon. "He was a diligent, relaxed cover star for his first ever fashion shoot."

"It is clear that he is becoming a credit to the family name, not only possibly the most famous in the world but one with a wealth of heavyweight fashion influence behind it," adds Reardon.

An aspiring footballer, Brooklyn has been courted by various Premier League clubs and has already turned out for the Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers academies. In November 2013, it emerged that Manchester United were monitoring the teenager with a view to offering him a place in their academy. David Beckham took Brooklyn to United's Carrington training ground and is it understood more sessions are planned.

'The Sociology Of Miley Cyrus' And Other Useless College Courses 4128832 News

We’ve all heard the phrase ‘Mickey Mouse’ degree, used to describe a useless higher education degree. Well, now you can actually take a Mickey Mouse Degree! Sort of. Skidmore College in New York is offering a course called ‘The Sociology of Miley Cyrus’, which gives students the opportunity to explore the journey of the Hannah Montana star, beginning with her days on the Disney show and culminating with whatever the hell she is these days.

miley cyrus college course Attendees of Skidmore College can study 'The Sociology of Miley Cyrus'

There’s a slightly more academic edge to the course than just flicking through pictures of Miley’s transformation, students are invited to evaluate the notions of identity, media, entertainment and fame. Miley is just the hyperactive, peroxide lens through which they do this.

If you think studying Miley Cyrus at college sounds pretty stupid, these other courses will totally blow your mind.

Columbia College offers the opportunity to study ‘Zombies in Popular Media’, allowing students to study representations and their significance of zombies throughout history. Using critical theory and source material (including comics if you doubted the credibility of the module) students reflect and comment on the zombie figure. Sounds dead silly to us.

Lucky Tupac fans at the University of Washington can sign up to study ‘The Textual Appeal of Tupac Shakur’, a module which relates the writings of Tupac to various literature.  We imagine future conversations to go like this: "Who did you read at university?" "Oh you know, Jane Austin, Maya Angelou, Tupac Shakur" "Say what?".

If you’ve managed to get into a university you’re probably more than capable of watching television without running into too much difficulty, although Montclair university offers support for those that do. ‘How To Watch Television’ is a module on offer at the college, and educates students in analyzing television and the extent it should be, and needs to be, understood by its audience. Students are encouraged to assess the impact that television has on their lives. Between 18 years old and 21, the ages most people go on to higher education, it’s probably going to be quite a lot. No one wants to miss HIMYM, after all.

We kid you not, Staffordshire University in the UK offered a course in David Beckham studies. Sure, he’s potentially the greatest football player of all time, as well as an all-round nice guy, but seriously? We’re not entirely sure what the course entails, although it sounds pretty self-explanatory. We wonder if Becks would be able to pass the end of year exam?

david beckham studies 'David Beckham studies' was on offer at Staffordshire University

It can be a little bit of light relief when studying a weighty subject to pass some time with a less serious module, although we just hope that when you finally do graduate and start looking for jobs, future employers don’t ask why you chose to study something so totally ridiculous.
