Beckham Will Stay A Brit
DAVID BECKHAM has shrugged off speculation he wants to become an American citizen - insisting he'll remain living in the U.S. as a Brit.
The soccer superstar and his wife Victoria emigrated to Los Angeles with their brood of boys in 2007, and have since insisted they want to stay there as long as their children are at school.
Beckham recently sparked rumours he is planning to make his move official - when asked if he would consider applying for U.S. citizenship, he replied, "I hope so, one day."
But the star insists the quotes were taken out of context, and he has no plans to hand back his British passport.
He says, "You have seen quotes attributed to me. Just to be clear - I'm happy living in America but have no intention of becoming a U.S. citizen.
"I'm English and proud to be. That will never change."
