Beckham Denies Wedding/soccer Dispute
England soccer ace David Beckham has denied an argument with his Spanish club Real Madrid over his attendance at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' wedding yesterday (18NOV06).
The sports star, who flew to Italy for a pre-wedding dinner with wife VICTORIA on Friday (17NOV06), was expected to be among the string of celebrity guests at the Castello Odescalchi ceremony, but had to jet back to Madrid early on Saturday for pre-match training.
Beckham returned to Italy last night to celebrate with Cruise and Holmes at their wedding reception.
Press speculated Beckham and his coach FABIO CAPELLO were embroiled in a war of words over the timetable conflict, but the 31-year-old insists it was always his plan to honour soccer commitments.
His spokesman says, "David never thought he'd be able to attend the wedding.
"The original plan was for him to be playing and for Victoria's sister LOUISE to be with her at the wedding."
Earlier this month (NOV06) Beckham was fined by Real Madrid for turning up late to training after meeting tennis beauty MARIA SHARAPOVA.
