Beatles Piano Pulled From Auction
A piano used by the BEATLES at the famed Abbey Road Studios has been withdrawn from an auction.
The coffee-stained instrument, which the Fab Four used to record several tracks, was slated to go under the hammer at Bonhams auctioneers in West Sussex, England and was expected to fetch $225,000 (£150,000).
But the sale was stopped at the weekend (14-15Aug10) - with organisers refusing to reveal why.
A statement posted on Bonhams' website reads, "This lot has been withdrawn."
The Challen upright piano was played on Beatles tracks including Paperback Writer, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da and Tomorrow Never Knows and was a fixture at London's Abbey Road studios during the 1960s.
