Beatles' Hit To Be Heard In Spaceby Contributor | 04 February 2008
THE BEATLES' hit ACROSS THE UNIVERSE has been selected as the first song to be beamed directly into space.
NASA will transmit the Fab Four's single through its Deep Space Network of antennas towards the North Star, Polaris to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its release and NASA's 50th birthday.
The track will reach 431 light years away from Earth, reports BBC News.
The broadcast will take place at midnight on Monday February 4th and the space agency has asked fans to join in the celebration by playing the song themselves.
Former Beatle Sir PAUL MCCARTNEY deemed the project "amazing" adding "Well done NASA, send my love to the Aliens".
Meanwhile, fans of THE BEATLES will be able to stay in a Beatles-themed boutique hotel in the band's home town of Liverpool.
The Hard Days Night Hotel is set in the heart of Beatles Quarter near the famous Cavern Club- where they played numerous early gigs.
