Beach Boys, Madness and Paloma Faith to headline Henley Festival

The Beach Boys, Madness and Paloma Faith have been announced as headliners at the 2013 Henley Festival.

The 'California Girls' band are set to kick off the festivities in the quaint town in South Oxfordshire, England, on Wednesday 10 July and the musicians are ''excited'' to return to the UK for the event.

Founding member Mike Love gushed: ''We are very excited about performing at this year's Henley Festival and playing literally on the River Thames. It is always a special gift to get the opportunity to play for our English fans.''

British ska band Madness - who are currently promoting their 10th studio album 'Qui Qui, Si Si, Ja Ja, Da Da' - will continue the celebrations on the banks of the River Thames on Friday 12 July and joked they will all be in attendance this year after singer Suggs drunkenly jumped on stage during Sting's performance at last year's festival.

They said: ''Our singer Suggs got the wrong date and turned up on stage a year early, luckily Sting didn't mind too much, we'll all be there this year, we'll be expecting you.''

Quirky singer Paloma will be closing the five-day long black tie festival with a performance on Sunday 14 July and the flame-haired beauty can't wait to share her passion with the audience at Henley.

She added: ''I'm really happy to be playing at the Henley Festival this year. Performing live is what I love the most!''

Other entertainment taking place includes 'Shaken & Stirred - The Music of James Bond' night on Saturday July 13, where the festival will celebrate the 50-year milestone of the 007 agent with West End singers, stunt men and other special appearances from surprise guests.

Sir Roger Moore - who played the spy in seven of the franchise's films, including 1973's 'Live and Let Die' and 1977's 'The Spy Who Loved Me' - thinks the idea is the perfect way to pay tribute to author IAN FLEMING's ''remarkable'' character.

He said: ''James Bond has played a major part of my life and I can't imagine a more appropriately British location for a celebration of Ian Fleming's remarkable character. Have a wonderful evening and good luck!''

More details are to be announced and tickets go on sale to Friends of the festival from www.henley-festival.co.uk at 10am on Monday 25 February, with general admittance on sale soon.
