Batman - Batman The Dark Knight Rises Shortlists Five Actresses

BATMAN THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, the highly anticipated new movie by CHRISTOPHER NOLAN, will cast two leading female actresses and a shortlist of five has been revealed by The Hollywood Reporter. KATIE HOLMES, MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL and RACHEL DAWES have ruled themselves out of the race to play the hottest female role around, but bosses still have their eye on some of the industry's biggest stars.
The movie will allegedly be Nolan's third and final Batman film, and he'll be looking to emulate the success of 2008's 'Dark Knight'. The actresses apparently leading the race for the sought after roles are British actress KEIRA KNIGHTLY, ANNE HATHAWAY, JESSICA BIEL, KATE MARA and CHARLOTTE RILEY. The case for Knightly is strengthened by her already high-profile reputation as a leading lady and she's starred alongside JOHNNY DEPP in the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movies. Hathaway recently appeared as 'The Queen' in TIM BURTON's 'Alice in Wonderland' and Biel has experience of starring in action movies having had roles in 'Blade Trinity' and 'Iron Man 2'. 28-year-old Riley is the least known actress on the list but she is engaged to actor TOM HARDY, who is also rumoured to be cast in the film.
The movie, which is scheduled for release in 2012, will once again star CHRISTIAN BALE as the caped crusader and GARY OLDMAN, MORGAN FREEMAN and MICHAEL CAINE will all reprise their roles from 'The Dark Knight'.
