Barry Gibb Remembers Brother Robin's "Beautiful Heart" At Funeral
The Daily Telegraph reports that Gibb commented to the congregation "Life is too short. In Robin's case, absolutely too short. We should have had 20 years, 30 years of his magnificent mind and his beautiful heart." And in reference to his other brother Maurice, he added: "They were both beautiful. And now they're together. They're actually together."
The congregation was a mixture of the star's family, famous friends and more humbler acquaintances, with Sir Tim Rice, DJ Mike Read, Uri Geller and Paul Gambaccini among those spotted in attendance. Indeed you sense that they could've held the funeral for Gibb in an arena and it would probably be full; the 62 year-old was generally considered one of the most decent men in the music industry, managing to maintain a dignified humility in spite of record sales exceeding 200 million worldwide, a good portion of that being sold whilst with his brothers in the Bee Gees. His last work was a classical piece, a requiem for the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. He never got to play it live after falling ill ahead of the concert.
