Barack Obama - Barack Obama Back On Singing Form As The Blues Recognised In The White House

President Barack Obama just can't resist a good sing along these days, so it would seem. It was widely reported that he recently belted out a line of Al Green's 'Let's Stay Together' at a public event in New York, and last night he was at it again in the White House as he played host to some of the finest musicians of the last 75 years including Mick Jagger, Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy and B.B KING. With the event drawing to a close the blues ensemble gathered started singing 'Sweet Home Chicago,' reports The Press Association, and Guy told the President "You gotta keep it up," in relation to his previous Green performance. With Jagger then handing him the mike, Obama apparently couldn't resist and sang the line "Come on, baby don't you want to go" before returning to add "Sweet home Chicago" at the end.

The event was being held as part of Black History Month and saw the East Room of the White House turned into an intimate blues club as dignitaries gathered to pay homage to the genre. "This music speaks to something universal," Obama declared of the blues, continuing "No one goes through life without both joy and pain, triumph and sorrow. The blues gets all of that, sometimes with just one lyric or one note. "

There was no denying that it was a truly startling line-up; joining Jagger, Beck, Guy and King was a multi-generational array of talent including 26-year-old Troy "TROMBONE SHORTY" ANDREWS, Gary Clark Jr., WARREN HAYNES and DEREK TRUCKS.
