The 38 year old was en route to Sadler's Wells Theatre for the final show of Matthew Bourne's hit The Car Man when he was knocked off his bike.

He died later in hospital and his family has confirmed the sad news.

Sunday's The Car Man performance was cancelled.

Ollivier was the leading man in the stage show, which was loosely based on Georges Bizet's opera Carmen, and his performance had been heralded by the critics.

He previously starred in Bourne's all-male Swan Lake.

The driver of the Mercedes which collided with the late star's bike has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, according to the BBC.
