Everyone’s favourite Bake Off winner turned Loose Women panellist this week and told everyone that she married her husband on only the second time they met. Nadiya Hussain made her debut on the ITV chat show where the topic of discussion was good proposals.

The TV star revealed that her and her husband Abdal, 34, were set up by their fathers and that their proposal was not private at all - instead taking place in front of 40 members of her family when she was just 19 years old.

Now having been married for 11 years, Nadiya, 30, said of their initial meeting: "I spoke to my husband for about six months and I’d never met him. We were introduced by our fathers.

"I never met him. The first day that we met was the day we got engaged and the second day we met was the day we got married."

If Nadiya needed anymore assurance that her father had picked the right man, she got it after her husband proved a hit with the Bake Off viewers with people calling him a "dreamboat".

The couple now have three children - Musa, nine, Dawud, eight and Maryam, five - and Nadiya admitted she first thought motherhood was really tough.

Of when she was first alone with her youngster, she said: "The day my husband went back to work, I felt like my world had collapsed.

"I cried and thought ‘how am I supposed to do this?’ Being a mother is tough."
