Bailey Rae Praises 'Humble' Wonder
British singer CORINNE BAILEY RAE has praised STEVIE WONDER's humility in the face of his success - insisting the blind superstar has been shielded from the "trappings of fame" by his disability.
The Put Your Records On hitmaker has been invited to open for Wonder on his upcoming European tour, and the singer is delighted to be hitting the road with the music legend.
And she's convinced Wonder, who has been blind since birth, has not been affected by superstardom in the same way as other celebrities.
She says, "I have met him a few times and he is so funny and humble. The great thing about meeting Stevie is that when you're loitering nervously near and about to be introduced to him, you are seeing him but he isn't seeing you.
"Being blind must have helped him to ignore the fuss and trappings of fame. So much of fame is about being stared at and being conscious that other people are conscious of you. He has been protected from that and it shows."
