Badly Drawn Boy: 'Williams Is A Victim Of Fame'

Badly Drawn Boy star DAMON GOUGH has spoken out in support of Robbie Williams, blaming fame for the pop singer's current stay in rehab.
Williams was admitted to a clinic in the US on Tuesday (13FEB07), his 33rd birthday, to battle his dependency on prescription drugs.
And while some including Oasis brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher have little sympathy for Williams, Gough sympathises with the pressures that come with superstardom.
He says, "I empathise with what Robbie is going through. I've met him a few times and he seemed to be dealing with his level of fame. Everyone looks at someone like him and says, 'He's just a show-off and loves attention.'
"Talking about yourself incessantly in interviews, being onstage where you are the centre of attention, writing songs that are going to be scrutinised, being famous and being spotted in the street - it all makes you feel really strange.
"Fame - it's just a weird thing and it does psychologically affect you."

boysintheband: What meds are you on?? It says he's addicted to PRESCRIPTION meds not over the counter ones. Hope people have a good laugh at your expense if you ever have a serious health issue someday. You and the Gallagher Bros. need a swift kick to the head...

Being a famous celeb does not mean you are above addictions, nor does it mean you should be put in the spotlight like it's abnormal, so why don't people just get over Rob's stint in rehab and stop ragging on him about it. At least he has taken the step in doing what is best for himself, which is more than I can say for some who continue to abuse drugs & create havoc for all those around them! Rob is unhappy because that's the way others make life for him, they're just too ignorant & selfish to see it. Victim of fame, maybe, but not in the same respect of what others think. His life has been full of turmoil & heartache for tooo long & now he is at a cross road where he needs to decide what exactly he wants to do with his future. If he comes to the conclusion that marriage & children are definantly not the go for him with the way his life is, then so be it, it's his choice. Rob will find the true happiness he has been searching for, might be a bit longer yet, but soon all his dreams are going to be fullfilled & when it does happen, the world will wonder what all the fuss was about in the first place....

The Gallaghers are the most vile creatures on the face of the earth! I am stunned at the level of cruelty in their remarks about Robbie Williams and others, as well. Oh well, I suppose that their meaness comes from a jealous place in their black tiny hearts and from the knowledge that they look like little zoo animals...which one is it? A ferret or a lemur?
