Irving Azoff - Azoffs Feted By Cancer Charity
Music mogul IRVING AZOFF and his wife SHELLI are set to receive a top philanthropy honour in recognition of their tireless efforts to raise awareness about cancer.
Azoff, the longtime manager of rock supergroups The Eagles and Van Halen, will become the first person to be honoured with the Spirit of Life Award on two occasions, following his initial presentation in 1984.
He will make history as one half of the first married couple to accept the accolade from the City of Hope organisation.
The Azoffs' charity work will be toasted at the group's Spirit of Life gala in Hollywood on 7 May (11).
In a statement, the couple says, "We are grateful and privileged to receive this year's Spirit of Life Award, and are proud to help recognise the incredible work being done by researchers at City of Hope. The institution's level of advanced research into finding cures for life-threatening diseases is unparallelled, and we're pleased to support its vision."
All proceeds from the event, part of which will be staged at California's Universal Studios, will benefit research, treatment and awareness programmes for cancer, diabetes and HIV/AIDS.
