Axl Rose - Axl Rose Dead? No, Just Another Twitter Death Hoax
Axl Rose hasn't posted on his Twitter account since April 17, 2012. As a result, the rest of Twitter seems to have decided that the Guns N Roses frontman is dead. Or maybe someone, somewhere is a little annoyed at Axl for his no-show at the Guns N Roses Hall of Fame induction last weekend. Either way, the hashtag 'RipAxlRose' started trending last night (April 19, 2012) and for some reason spread like wildfire in Brazil, more than anywhere else.
Axl is just the latest celebrity to fall foul of the online fad for death hoaxes, though his own Twitter page remains eerily silent. Last weekend, Axl snubbed the Guns N Roses induction ceremony at Cleveland's Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. His former band members, from the 'classic' lineup of the band (Slash, Duff Mckagan, Matt Sorum and Steven Adler) were all present for the ceremony, which Slash insisted was about the music, not the people.
Axl isn't the only celebrity to get falsely bumped off by online rumours recently. Earlier in the week, it was reported that Ryan Gosling had died in a grisly accident in the Austrian mountains, whilst filming a new movie. It wasn't long, however, until photos of him arriving safe and well at Los Angeles airport were published online, for anyone concerned for the wellbeing of the Drive star.
