Avril Lavigne - Avril Lavigne Tipped To Take 'X Factor' Judging Spot
Avril Lavigne has emerged as a potential contender to fill one of the vacant judges spots for the forthcoming series of the US 'X Factor,' according to reports. Despite the show gaining a renewal for a second season last year, all wasn't fully well within the camp and, in a stunning triple whammy, show boss Simon Cowell confirmed that judges Nicole Scherzinger , Paula Abdul and host Steve Jones would all leave the show.
Since then the rumour mill has been running on overtime with speculation as to who'll the replace the fallen three, and TMZ claims that Lavigne is now one of the frontrunners to be signed, reporting that negotiations between the two respective parties have already started. It was on Arista Records where Lavigne made her breakthrough of course; her first two albums were released on the label and went on to reach nine times platinum status combined; head of the company at that time was L.A REID and it's thought that perhaps that this link will entice show bosses.
Of course Lavigne may well be an attractive acquisition regardless of her former relationship with Reid. There can be few better to teach any young pop aspirants about the pressures of coming to the music industry young and battling through that early hype. The Canadian was just 17 when her debut single 'Complicated' went to Number Two in the US Billboard Charts in 2002 and the star had racked up her first US chart topping album before she'd turned 20 with second LP 'Under My Skin.' Still going strong aged 27, last year's fourth album 'Goodbye Lullaby' reached fourth spot on the album Billboards.
