Singer Avril Lavigne has hit back at critics who accused her of mocking contestants on American Idol, blaming poor editing for the controversy.
The Sk8er Boi hitmaker appeared as a guest judge on Simon Cowell's hit TV singing contest in 2009, but was later criticised for appearing to spend most of the show stifling her giggles at the poor standard of contestants.
She has now spoken out about the negative remarks, claiming viewers were only shown "that side of me" and insisting she'd love to go back on the programme.
Lavigne tells Britain's Sunday Times Magazine, "I was actually really impressed by a lot of the singers and I gave a lot of positive feedback and was very encouraging. But the stuff that actually aired was mostly me making faces and laughing - so viewers only saw that side of me. (But) I hope I can go back on. I had a lot of fun."
