Bob Dylan - Author Jonah Lehrer Resigns From New Yorker After Admitting To Bob Dylan Quote Fabrication

A best-selling book featuring folk legend Bob Dylan has landed its author in all sorts of bother - and he only has himself to blame. 31 year-old author, speaker and now former New Yorker staff writer Jonah Lehrer has resigned from his job with the publication after being forced to admit that he'd fabricated Dylan quotes in his tome, 'Imagine: How Creativity Works', following an article in Tablet Magazine.
"The lies are over now," he said in a statement, reported by the New York Times. "I understand the gravity of my position. I want to apologize to everyone I have let down, especially my editors and readers." He added, "I will do my best to correct the record and ensure that my misquotations and mistakes are fixed. I have resigned my position as staff writer at The New Yorker."
"It's a hard thing to describe," Dylan allegedly said in the book. "It's just this sense that you got something to say." It was one of three of "quotes" found in the book that were in fact made up by Lehrer. Bafflingly, the revelations came only a month after the author had been found guilty of reusing his own material in his work; that time New Yorker editor David Remnick kept him on board, but this was one mistake too many. "This is a terrifically sad situation," he said in a statement, "but, in the end, what is most important is the integrity of what we publish and what we stand for."
