An Austrian culture minister is urging cinemagoers to boycott Sacha Baron Cohen's new movie BRUNO, branding the film's portrayal of his country "totally inappropriate".
Austria's British envoy Emil Brix has blasted Cohen's new satirical comedy, in which he plays an Austrian gay fashionista, insisting the Brit's latest satirical movie is full of "cheap" gags.
In the film, Bruno declares he is determined to become Austria's most famous citizen "since Hitler" and even calls convicted rapist Josef Fritzl the embodiment of the "Austrian dream".
Brix says, "It’s totally inappropriate. Everybody should speak up against that.”
And the diplomat believes many of his countrymen will not approve of Bruno, insisting: "The public will know how to react to this film."
