Australian actress Caitlin Stasey has been left shaken after she was attacked in Melbourne on Friday (02Mar12).
The former Neighbours star was walking with her sister in the suburb of Mentone when they were set upon by a group of girls.
In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "With my sister, in broad daylight, three girls surrounded us, attacked us and no-one did a thing. Congratulations society, you astound me.
"We are fine, just completely terrifying and unjust. To anyone who is the victim of violent or verbal bullying, I sympathise whole-heartedly."
Stasey has now called for tougher punishments on young people who instigate fights, adding: "There are not harsh enough penalties for teenagers responsible for violence. Where do you think violent adults come from? Teach them young that it is entirely unacceptable and that it will not be tolerated. You get away with anything nowadays.
"I hope any of you who have had to suffer through bullying know that you're not alone and it's not okay."
