At Half-way Point, Nbc Is No. 1 For The Season

No one would have predicted it at the beginning of the season, but now, at the midpoint of the 2012-13 season, NBC has risen to No. 1 in the ratings among the key 18-49 age group, thanks to Sunday Night Football on Sundays, The Voice on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Chicago Fire on Wednesdays. According to TVbytheNumbers.com, its overall ratings are up 24 percent from last season. Among total adults, however, CBS remains in the lead with perennial top-ten shows such as NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles, The Big Bang Theory, Mike and Molly, and Vegas drawing huge numbers. Nevertheless, its ratings among the 18-49 crowd are down 13 percent from last season. ABC is down 4 percent in that demo, while Fox is down 23 percent. Meanwhile, TVbytheNumbers has compiled a list of the most-watched cable TV shows during 2012. Of the top 13 telecasts, the only non-football one to make the list was History's The Hatfields and the McCoys. The miniseries placed third (Wednesday night), fifth (Monday night), and seventh (Tuesday night). The most-watched cable program of the year was ESPN's telecast of the BCS championship on Jan. 9, which attracted 24.43 million viewers.
