A 12-year-old boy has been charged with making prank calls that sent police to the home of Ashton Kutcher. The boy - who cannot be named due to legal reasons - is set to be arraigned in Juvenile Court tomorrow, TMZ Report.
Police rushed to the glamorous home of Kutcher back in October after receiving a report of people with guns and explosives were at the house. The boy also claimed that people had been shot, but of course, after officials arrived it was soon apparent they had been the subjects of a ruse. The young lad clearly has a penchant for this type of misdemeanour, having pulled a similar prank on an L.A. bank later that month, and it would appear that he has been charged with two felony counts of making false bomb threats as well as two felony counts of computer intrusion. 'Swatting' seems to be quite common amongst celebrities, with Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Tom Cruise and Kris Jenner having been victim to it in the past.
The practice of making these prank calls - which more than often target the homes of the rich and famous - has become known as "swatting." The term comes from the desire to have heavily armed SWAT teams dispatched to their calls. The Tom Cruise case, in particular, was a big case, as The Beverly Hills Police Department estimated that more than half of its emergency resources were occupied to attending his house following the prank.
