Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore have found themselves at the centre of a sports scandal involving the National Collegiate Athletic Association, after the pair met with prospective athletes despite Kutcher being a university donor, a practise that is prohibited under NCAA rules.
According to E! Online, the University of Iowa and the Hollywood couple are in hot water after athletic officials allowed prospective basketball recruits to meet Kutcher and his wife before a football game in September 2010. Despite the meeting seeming relatively innocuous, Kutcher is considered to be a 'representative of Hawkete athletic interests' and therefore cannot have contact with potential high-school recruits. The 32-year-old dropped out of the University of Iowa in the late 1990s to pursue a career in modelling, but his connection with the school prevents him from having contact with potential recruits as he could be seen to have a special influence on who gets selected.
The basketball hopefuls reportedly met with former Hawkeye players, before being introduced to Kutcher and his wife Moore at a stadium football suite. The couple are yet to make any comment.
