Ashley Judd - Ashley Judd Slams Media, Draws Support From Miley Cyrus
Ashley Judd recent rant against sexism in the media has drawn support from a number of other celebrities. On Monday (April 9, 2012), the Daily Beast published an article from the Heat actress, in which she described recent media speculation about her appearance as "blatantly gendered, ageist and mean-spirited." In the article, she asks "Why was a puffy face cause for such a conversation in the first place. What is the condemnation about? What is the self-righteous alleged "all knowing" stance of the media about?"
A number of celebrities have shown support for Judd, via their own social networking pages. The actress Minnie Driver posted a message on Twitter that read "ashleyjudd I felt you directly protecting women in a far more expanded way than just answering back to hateful commentary newconversation." And Miley Cyrus, who has herself been hitting out at people accusing her of being anorexic, after she lost weight, wrote a message saying "thank you AshleyJudd This article was music to my ears. Beautifully said and beyond inspiring. I hope everyone woman reads this." Other celebrities to have spoken out in support include the former Dresden Dolls singer Amanda Palmer, the comic actress Kristen Schaal and the UK comedian Josie Long.
