Asher Roth - Asher Roth Changes Album Title To Avoid Frank Ocean Clash
Asher Roth has scrapped his plan to name his sophomore album Is This Too Orange? in order to avoid a potential mix up with the debut album from Frank Ocean, Channel Orange.
Speaking to Karmaloop TV, the rapper - who is signed to Def Jam - said that his decision to scrap the initial album title came because he wants it to stand up on its own and not piggy-back on any of Ocean's success.
He said that Ocean had beaten him to the chase when it came to naming the album, adding that he "just want to make sure that we have an original idea. I don't want any connotation or any comparisons or anything like that, simply off of a name."
Its been three years since Roth's first album, Asleep In The Bread Aisle, and Roth digressed in the interview that the delay surrounding the new record was largely down to the politics within the music industry. He said that, in reference to the delay "obviously with the music business and the industry being the way that it is, the shape that it is, we're kind of dealing with those strings. we're just having fun and making sure we're doing it right."
