Arrested Development Stars In Unique Payment Scheme
A unique payment system was devised to cover the performances of the stars of Arrested Development, which is returning after an absence of seven years via Netflix, the Hollywood Reporter reported on Thursday. Each of the actors, Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Portia de Rossi and Michael Cera, is being guaranteed at least one starring episode for which he or she will receive $125,000. If one of them appears in more than 90 seconds of an episode but does not star in it, the payment will be $50,000. For less than 90 seconds, the actor will receive $10,000. The Reporter observed that while $125,000 is at the high end of what an actor would ordinarily earn on an episode of a series, the payment arrangement means that the Arrested Development stars won't earn what they would ordinarily on a regular series. However, the producers have arranged to shoot scenes out of order so that the actors can fulfill other commitments while working on the series. Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos told the Reporter: They're very in-demand movie and TV stars, and they're all working full-time and doing this show in between. They did it for the love of the show and for [series creator] Mitch Hurwitz.
