Aretha Franklin's Biopic Plans 'In Limbo'
The Respect hitmaker revealed in January (12) that actors Kerry Washington, Nia Long and Blair Underwood were on her "wish list" of stars she wanted for leading roles in her life story, and her representative claimed the singer was due to meet with a director and financiers to discuss the next step in turning her 1999 autobiography, From These Roots, into a movie.
But preparations for the film have since ground to a halt because Franklin, who turned 70 on Sunday (25Mar12), is too busy to focus on the biopic.
She tells the Associated Press, "It's in a limbo position. It's just a lot going on."
Franklin recently signed to Sony Music Entertainment and is due to head back into the studio with legendary producer Clive Davis to work on her next album.
