Arctic Monkeys - Arctic Monkeys have learned from Glastonbury past

Arctic Monkeys are hoping for a ''better'' Glastonbury experience this year.

The band will headline the festival's iconic Pyramid Stage on Friday night (28.06.13) and singer Alex Turner hopes their performance will be better than their 2007 headlining slot and that have learnt from their last appearance.

He told BBC Radio 1: ''Glastonbury is like this old wise wizard, or something, kind of controls the tides of the rock 'n roll universe, and I perhaps understand that a little better this time, I've got a respect for it, you know.

''Maybe that wise wizard's got a respect for us now, don't know. Hopefully he'll turn the speakers on or whatever, turn us up a bit this time.''

He admitted the 'Crying Lightning' group didn't really get the festival during their first headline appearance but feel they have grown enough to embrace it this time round.

He added: ''It's kind of like an otherworldy quality that Glastonbury festival has, that can't be explained, to someone that hasn't experienced the thing.

''At that time when we last played it, I'd never been there before, I didn't really know what it was, you know, and now I think I've been like every year it's been on since then, and somehow I feel that makes me better equipped to play it this time, and all others really.''

The Rolling Stones will headline on Saturday night (29.06.13), while Mumford & Sons will close the event - organised by Michael Eavis - on Sunday (30.06.13).
