Arctic Monkeys + Atonement Lead South Bank Nominations
Arctic Monkeys' Favourite Worst Nightmare will take on Radiohead's In Rainbows in the Best Album category, in what will be the Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor hitmaker's second attempt to win the prize. The group were unsuccessful last year (06) when nominated for their debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not.
Meanwhile, romantic epic Atonement has been tipped to pick up the Best Film prize over Control and This Is England, after being announced in the awards shortlist.
Other nominees include former Blur frontman Damon Albarn, who has been nominated for his first venture into opera with Monkey: Journey To The West - a stage musical which ran in Manchester, England, over the summer (07) - while the West End production of MACBeth, starring Patrick Stewart, is also in the running for the Best Theatre prize.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London in February next year (08).
