Arctic Monkeys And The Killers Up For Nme Gongs
The Las Vegas-based band have been put forward for their song When You Were Young and for the video Bones, but they will be up against some big names for the award.
Muse's Supermassive Black Hole and Dirty Pretty Things' Bang Bang You're Dead are among the other contenders for Best Track, while Kasabian's Empire will be up for Best Video.
Elsewhere Arctic Monkeys and My Chemical Romance will be competing for Best Music DVD and T In The Park and the Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds Festivals are in the running for Best Live Event.
Arctic Monkeys are up for a further three awards, including Best British Band, Best Live Band and Best Album.
Meanwhile, Pete Doherty has been nominated for a host of individual awards, with the shambolic singer typically dividing judges.
The Babyshambles front man is up for Hero of the Year and Villain of the Year, as well as being put forward for Sexiest Man, Best Dressed and Worst Dressed.
Razorlight are among the bands given the thumbs down, nominated for Worst Band and Worst Album for their eponymous offering.
Readers of The Music magazine will vote for the winners, with the awards ceremony taking place in London on March 1st.
