The box office will likely be caught pretty much in a holding pattern this weekend as moviegoers sit out the new fare in anticipation of next weekend's opening of Man of Steel. Forecasters say that the two films that will be debuting, The Purge and The Internship, are not likely to earn much more than $20 million each. The R-rated The Purge, which stars Ethan Hawke and reportedly was made for just $3 million, is expected to come out ahead with around $18-22 million, while the PG-rated The Internship (it's about two guys who get jobs as interns at Google) will probably end up with around $12-18 million. Both films have received mostly negative reviews. Holdover competition will come mostly from Fast and Furious 6 and Now You See Me, which finished at No. 1 and No. 2 at the box office last weekend respectively.
