Antonio Banderas Wants To Experiment
Antonio Banderas believes he needs to "experiment" with more diverse movie roles.
The 51-year-old actor - who has performed in movies including 'Evita', 'The Legend of Zorro' and 'Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over' - still considers himself a "rookie" and would like to find an ideal role soon before he gets "thrown out" of Hollywood.
He said: "As an actor, I probably need to experiment more; I'm still a rookie. I have to find my personality, so I'm searching for that. I Hope to find that soon so I don't get thrown out of the business."
However, he admits he was very keen to appear in Perdo Almodovar's 'The Skin I Live In' - about a man who likes to do unusual things to people's skin - even though it took over 10 years to get off the ground.
He told Buzzinefilm.com: "It was Pedro Almodovar who approached me first, and it happened, actually, almost ten years ago in the Cannes Film Festival. He told me, at the time, that he bought the rights for a Thierry Jonquet novel,'Tarantula'. But then for all this time, he got involved with other projects and it didn't happen.
"But then I knew he was working all this time just trying to adapt it in his own personal way. Then, when I received The Script, I was in New York. I was doing some workshop at the time for Zorba that I had to interrupt because of Pedro!"
