Anti-obama Documentary Now No. 2 Political Doc Ever
On the weekend following President Obama's acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention, the anti-Obama documentary 2016 Obama's America became the second-highest-grossing political documentary ever, behind only Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11. Its weekend gross of $3.3 million brought its gross to $26.2 million and pushed it past Moore's other documentaries, 2007's Sicko with $24.5 million; 2002's Oscar-winning Bowling for Columbine with $21.5 million; and 2009's Capitalism A Love Story. Fahrenheit remained No. 1 with $119.1 million. Reports indicated that the film was strongly marketed in churches that also packed theaters for faith-based films and on conservative talk shows and Fox News. Deadline.com reported over the weekend that busloads of people were arriving at theaters around the country in pre-organized trips.
