Annie Lennox - Annie Lennox To Receive 'Lifetime Achievement Award' In London

Annie Lennox, the Scottish singer-songwriter who achieved major international success as one half of Eurythmics, will receive a lifetime achievement honour at the Inspiration Awards in London, reports the Press Association.
The Sweet Dreams singer is being recognised for her distinguished music career, as well as her years of campaigning for humanitarian causes. A notable peace activist, Lennox is a goodwill ambassador for UNAids and an ambassador for Oxfam. She has sold over 80 million albums worldwide with Eurythmics, whilst enjoying huge success as a solo artist. Other public figures nominated at the ceremony include Samantha Cameron, Victoria Beckham, Tracey Emin and Kate Winslet. British songstress Adele will receive a next generation inspiration at the event, set to take place at Cadogan Hall in Chelsea tonight. (7th October 2011). The awards, hosted by former tennis star Andrew Castle and news presenter Sarah-jane Mee, aim to raise money for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity.
Lennox released her last album, 'A Christmas Cornucopia', in November 2010. The festive record peaked at No. 35 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and No. 16 on the UK Albums chart.
