Dita Von Teese has led the tributes to Anna Piaggi after the Italian style icon died at the age of 81.
The Fashion journalist - who was famous in the industry for her pale blue hair and eccentric style - passed away at her Milan home earlier today (07.08.12) and burlesque dancer Dita took to twitter to speak of her sadness over her death.
She wrote: ''So sad to hear that Anna Piaggi, one of my last icons of beauty & fashion has passed. She was the height of glamorous eccentricity. (sic)''
Franca Sozzani, the editor of Vogue Italia , for whom Piaggi penned a column entitled, D.P. Doppie Pagine di Anna Piaggi, also wrote: ''23 years working together, milions of D.P. done together. Will remember you for ever Anna. (sic)''
Anna was credited with introducing vintage fashion to Italy and was a celebrated fashion writer who contributed extensively to Vogue Italia .
In 2006, London's Victoria & Albert museum celebrated her inimitable style by staging an exhibition, 'Anna Piaggi Fashion-ology', exhibiting personal clothes archive, highlighting her extensive collection of vintage couture and designer clothing including garments by Balenciaga, Fendi, Galliano and Poiret.
