Ann Curry - Ann Curry To Be Dropped From 'Today' Line-up
After being with the show since 1997, it looks as though Ann Curry may be about to see her long run come to an end. This comes along with the news that 'Today' has lost its spot at the top of the ratings chart in morning TV entertainment to Good Morning America after a 16-year streak at the top reports TMZ.
Abc's morning rival is beating the Nbc show in the ratings, and the 54-year-old is now being moved as another casualty in the 37-year war between the two networks. Curry, who was formerly a news anchor for the show, was only promoted to head anchor some 12-months ago but looks set to lose her spot altogether in a major reorganisation of the show as it looks to once again go to the top of the ratings.
In the meantime, 'Today' will continue to be anchored by Matt Lauer, who has also been with the show since 1997 and recently negotiated a pay deal that will earn him $25million to stay put.
Former Today anchor Meredith Vieira, who has remained involved with Nbc for co-hosting duties from London during the Queen's Jubillee, has reportedly been offered her post back but refused, TMZ reports. Vieira will still be contributing from the upcoming Olympics for the network though.
