Ann Curry - Ann Curry Thanks Twitter Fans For Their Support
Ann Curry, the American journalist who has been announced as Meredith Vieira's successor on the 'Today Show', has thanked Twitter followers for their messages of congratulations. Ann Curry, who will join Matt Lauer on the show in June 2011, currently works for 'Today' as a news-anchor.
After a flurry of messages from her digital followers, Curry tweeted earlier today (10th May 2011), saying, "You, I Love. Your good wishes are making me so happy. Backatcha twitterverse". Vieira used this morning's show to announce her departure, saying, "I've really had a great time, but time is one of those weird things; you can never get enough of it". Curry paid tribute to the veteran broadcaster, saying, "You've been a gift to this broadcast. You have been generous and you have been a great girlfriend". Curry began her journalistic career back in 1978, working as an intern at Ktvl in Oregon. After rising through the ranks, she became the station's first female news reporter and later moved to Los Angeles to become a correspondent for Kcbs Tv. The 54-year-old, who acts as the primary substitute for Brian Williams on Nbc Nightly News, has won two Emmy Awards for her news reporting.
Ann Curry is married to the software executive Brian Ross, whom she met when the pair were at college. They have a daughter, 'MCKenzie' and a son 'William Walker'.
