David Bowie - Angie Bowie Marriage To Rocker David Was Doomed

Both have referred to the eight-year union as a marriage of convenience and Angie insists the only surprise for her was how long the marriage lasted.

She tells BlogTalkRadio.com, "He (Bowie) told me before we got married that he wasn't in love with me. I'm just surprised at how long he needed my services... After we had (son) Zowie (aka Duncan Jones) we were close... I knew it wasn't going to last. It was quite obvious he had no idea of any type of honesty in a relationship.

"He's very secretive and I'm not that type of person. If you're not honest, then I have no use for you. So it didn't take me long to realise that the times and the days were numbered. He could be charming and fabulous."

And she admits that even if Bowie wanted to make the marriage work, he was surrounded by "friends" who wanted to split them up.

She recalls, "They would have discussions of how to get David to divorce me! David was wonderful; he had no use for that and finally got rid of them, so there were areas of being loyal - all that did was confuse me more."

The Bowies wed in 1970 and split in 1978. The couple divorced in 1980.
