Jacks Mannequin - Andrew Mcmahon Appreciates Life After Cancer Battle

Jack's Mannequin frontman Andrew Mcmahon insists he's in a better place after conquering cancer because the disease helped him to slow down and appreciate life.
MCMahon was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2005 and underwent chemotherapy.
The singer made a full recovery and he's back recording music with his group, and despite the trauma of battling the illness, MCMahon insists he has emerged with a brighter outlook.
He tells the New York Daily News, "Fighting cancer really helped me to take stock of what I have. There are certainly elements of my life that have changed since I found out I had cancer. The biggest is the way I perceive things. I'm still in a rock 'n' roll band. That's a fact. But I no longer burn the candles at both ends.
"There are certainly moments when I look back on my life pre-cancer and think, 'That was pretty good, too bad all this real-life stuff had to happen.' But the truth is that before I got sick, there were many things that I was doing that were a direct reflection of not really being all that healthy or in a very good place."
And the star, who recently founded the cancer research organisation Dear Jack Foundation, hopes to inspire others battling the disease.
He adds, "I have this natural inclination to do something to make it better for the next person who experiences similar circumstances. My message is to stay positive, keep your chin down, push forward and you will make it through with dignity. It is certainly worth the fight. That's for sure."
