Andress Fears Bone Disease Will Leave Her Crippled

The Dr No actress was diagnosed with osteoporosis in 2000 but admits she did not take the disease seriously at first.

Andress confesses she became flippant about taking her medication - and now fears she will barely be able to walk if the condition worsens.

She says, "The doctor told me to take a pill daily to help stop my bones getting any weaker and to take calcium to help keep them strong... I found it so strange because I had no pain, no warning... but that is the nature of the disease - you carry on as normal and you don't realise your bones are becoming like glass.

"Years ago, with the pills, I would think 'I will take it later' and it would get later and later and days passed without me taking the medication."

The actress, who famously emerged from the sea in a skimpy bikini in the 1962 Bond debut, adds: "I don't want to become a crippled old lady, bent double, who can only shuffle along."
