Anderson Cooper Thanks Friends For Support In Wake Of Coming Out
The response from his pals on Twitter has been phenomenally supportive, and Cooper took time to address them on his own account, writing "I appreciate all the nice tweets. I am in Botswana working but want to wish everyone a great 4th of July!" The response to Cooper's coming out had indeed been sensational. Ellen Degeneres wrote "I'm proud of you Anderson Cooper" - she of course came out in public herself back in 1997 - comedienne Wanda Sykes, also a lesbian, Tweeted Cooper too, saying "Proud of you. thank you."
Further support came from sex columnist Dan Savage, who wrote "Loved your coming out letter Anderson Cooper. So beautifully put. Everyone should read it." Kathy Griffin meanwhile Tweeted a picture of her and Cooper holding hands, with the caption "Here I am with my friend who I'm so proud of" whilst TV personality Kelly Ripa was another to add her voice, writing "So proud of you Anderson Cooper. Always have been, always will be."
