And The Latest Superstar To Join The Rolling Stones Is...Lady Gaga

Lady GaGa became the most recent superstar to join The Rolling Stones onstage as part of their recent 50th anniversary celebrations, last night (December 16, 2012), The Guardian reports. Mother Monster took to the stage at the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey, on Sunday night and sang ‘Gimme Shelter’ with the band. She followed in the footsteps of Mary J Blige and Floreence Welch of Florence and the Machine, who had both fulfilled the duty at earlier dates.

Gaga announced the appearance via Twitter, with the message “He had me at ‘hello, it’s Mick,’” and another, explaining “in 2007 I was stripping to them.” There was no stripping at this performance though; just Jagger whirling around the stage like a spinning top let loose and Gaga showing off her impressive set of pipes and skittering around in a catsuit, platform heels and long blonde wig. The veteran rockers were also joined by Bruce Springsteen, who played ‘Tumbling Dice’ with them and The Black Keys put in an appearance, too, playing ‘Who Do You Love?’ Meanwhile, Gary Clark Jr., John Mayer and Mick Taylor were the guest stars on a performance of ‘Midnight Rambler.’

Meanwhile, fans of The Rolling Stones have been speculating over the possibility of the band’s appearance at the Coachella Festival next year. An accidental posting on the band’s iPhone app suggested that they would be performing on April 12, 2013, at the Coachella Festival. Jagger ended the Newark set by telling fans “hope to see you again soon,” suggesting that this is not the end of their current string of performances. Those with tickets for Britain’s Glastonbury Festival will no doubt still be crossing their fingers that they may be booked to play there, too, if they’re agreed to Coachella in the US.
